Her reputation for goth aesthetics and shock-like marketing is matched by the designer’s desire to address social issues in her work, questioning a deeply closeted industry while reassessing the female body itself. Instead of showing at Paris Fashion Week, which has gone virtual due to Covid-19, Rhude’s Rhuigi Villaseñor presented his Spring/Summer 2021 collection via this short film, titled "The Audacity to Dream,” a reference to Villaseñor’s journey as an immigrant from the Philippines to a U.S. citizen. The collection was shot in a private midcentury home in Malibu.
