Presenting Resort 2023 RTW, High Tide First Look: Introducing our Resort 2023 RTW Collection, High Tide. “For this Resort season we’ve dived into all things nautical and embraced the romance of sailing. I loved looking at all these gorgeous images from the 50’s and 60’s of women on idyllic sailing holidays and tried to capture a sense of the simple elegance and holiday glow that came from our references – there’s hints of nostalgia through the collection but with a fresh and fun take. We worked with our artists to create jaunty sailboat prints, placement world maps and classic 50’s ikat florals. The mix of both liquid and sharp papery fabrics creates movement in our silhouettes, with some of the key looks opening up, almost like you’re walking through a breeze. Funnily enough I grew up sailing on a small boat with my Dad on weekends and holidays in Botany Bay in Sydney, which wasn’t particularly glamourous, and certainly not that relaxing! I think I prefer our take on a sunny holiday on the sea!” – Creative Director, Nicky Zimmermann.

Introducing the Resort 2022 Ready-To-Wear Collection, The Postcard. “For this Resort season I wanted to create a collection that had a real sense of joy and escape. Looks that embodied all those great feelings and memories of a wonderful holiday - the anticipation, excitement, fun and laughter. We were given the opportunity to work with some of the beautiful art of James Northfield who created some of the most iconic Australian travel posters of the 30, 40’s and 50’s. I love the use of colour and the romantic nostalgia of the imagery. We’ve tried to create a collection that is light and playful. Thoughts of holidays and good times to look forward to was front of mind - I can’t wait!” - Creative Director, Nicky Zimmermann

ZIMMERMANN Spring 2021 Ready-To-Wear | WILD BOTANICA

“We often start a collection with a focus on print and this season I wanted to work with botanical art with an Australian focus - the unique floral shapes and the unexpected colour combinations. We thought about buoyant and diaphanous looks, balanced against crisp, masculine tailoring. I came across works by Ellis Rowan, a trailblazing artist, naturalist and explorer from the turn of the last century, who’s style traversed science and creativity. She was known for painting accurate depictions of wildflowers, insects and birds but with a very feminine, colourful and imaginative handle. We have been fortunate to partner with the National Library and others to be given the opportunity to bring ten of these works to life in various prints in the collection. We have contrasted these feminine styles - mostly on sheer, papery organdy and quite dramatic in silhouette - with more masculine suiting in a neutral, milky palette. The mood of the tailored looks is really important to me - these clean shapes were key in balancing out the collection and something I want us to keep exploring from here."
