Korakrit Arunanondchai’s ‘Songs for dying / Song for living’

The exhibition, presenting the works of Bangkok-raised artist Korakrit Arunanondchai, was co-produced by Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich and Kunstverein in Hamburg. While the video installation 'Songs for living' bathes you in blue-toned daylight, the video installation 'Songs for dying' covers you in darkness amidst a room covered with earth. In the middle room you are surrounded by an incredibly large painting that spans three walls showing a gathering of bodies and a giant bird in flames. Music and sound play a big role for the exhibition. As a whole, the experience is very immersive.

Daniel Mullen - Ephemeral Fields

Daniel Mullen, known for his play with geometrical optical illusion, spatial perspective and light, showcases his solo exhibition “Ephemeral Fields” at Kogan Amaro Gallery in Zurich. The Glasgow-born artist stems from the question “in what way might we imagine a future monument or the idea of a monument”. For the artist the monument of the future does not uphold existing structures. It is neither dominating, oppressive, predetermined nor physically definable. Instead it is light, space and movement expanding our perception in order to open our imagination to other futures.

Olafur Eliasson: Symbiotic Seeing

The Kunsthaus in Zürich, Switzerland curated by Mirjam Varadinis showcases a solo exhibition by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. It “addresses a key issue of our age: the relationship and interplay between human and non-human actors on Earth. Eliasson tackles themes such as coexistence and symbiosis and aims to bring about a fundamental shift of perspective. The exhibition invites us not only to reflect on climate change – as a consequence of human action – but also to comprehend the human being as part of a larger system. The socially and environmentally committed artist, who was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals by the UN in September 2019, proposes an idea of the world based on coexistence and collaboration rather than competition.
