DON'T KNOW WHERE GOING

"A little animated conversation between Peter Millard and me. We drew 250 frames each, than swapped frames. I animated on his sequence, and he did the same thing on mine. Without knowing where the other person was going, we animated straight ahead without a plan. This is what came out of it." -Reka Bucsi

Zsófia Keresztes / Pavilion of Hungary at Venice Art Biennale 2022

Zsófia Keresztes’ exhibition deals with the stages in one’s search for identity. This concept reaches back to Arthur Schopenhauer’s porcupine dilemma but, moving on from this, it takes as its associative starting point an episode from Antal Szerb’s 1937 novel Journey by Moonlight, used by the artist as a poetic analogy. The exhibition, in four units, explores both the ambivalent relationship between past / present and future and the stages by which people map out their own identity. Liberated in each other’s reflection from the burdens of common and individual experiences, the mutually referenced body fragments – separate yet existing as one community – attempt to achieve their final form.

Intermission

Repetitive still standing movement, an exploration of the visual image for its own sake. A projection of mental images, which are formed while listening to music. From the simple act of drawing a line, to the intricate movement and complex structure of animation.

Csató József: Broken Bones of the Heart

The Erika Deák Gallery exhibits paintings of József Csató. His latest series focuses on the concept of still lifes, composed of spatially inverted biomorphic motifs, and its relation to the notions of abstraction. His rich surfaces, enhanced by scratches, lines and monochrome spots, recall the image of reliefs, as their opulent overlays create multidimensional spectacles. His paintings, with their diversely textured and often vibrant colors, are both easy and playful, yet the overall impression of his work suggests a kind of ancient mystery. He constructs his compositions from motifs reminisce to natural fractions, plants, rocks or even body parts, and his now emblematic, cheerfully rounded, amoebetic Csatóforms.

Bon - Pantheon - Flora 4k

Youtube

"We wanted to create a record using samples from recordings we created ourselves that were calm, romantic and had a natural, timeless feel. Something weathered and low-fi, but Hi-Fi and complete all at the same time. Something with the spirit of a well-loved worn-out cassette but using cutting edge production techniques. Hiss, noise and distortion are all treated here as instruments in these compositions. Asking the questions "What is quality, perfection and character and what do these words mean to us". We took our own recordings and manipulated them, letting them evolve through the technology, reflecting the cyclical and evolutionary nature of all creative processes."

Bon aka Bon Music Vision - Avant-garde artist, composer, producers comprised of Yerosha Windrich (Swiss, Indonesian, Greek) and Elfed Alexander Morris (Welsh, Ghanaian, Native Canadian). With a life long interest in popular culture, philosophy and finding fluidity in perceptual conventions, Bon’s mission is to create something from the perspective of the outsider - an insight into what it is to be and belong and how to find community in art and culture that exists on the fringes of the mainstream. Their art grew out of a desire to support the other - Their philosophy is to create in the spirit of inclusiveness be it social, sexual or racial.
