New Balance x Miu Miu 2024 Campaign

New Balance and Miu Miu team up again for a new collaboration, now with a design based on the iconic New Balance 530 running shoe. Peris Adolwi, Julie Hoomans and Florine Wildeboer star in the accompanying still and moving image campaign. Stolen moments are captured against a domesticated background - white walls, blank phone screens and crumpled white sheets – onto which viewers are invited to project their thoughts and dreams. The mood is intimate, relaxed, playful, from movement and gesture to shoes and clothes. Launched in 1992, the New Balance 530 was originally conceived as a performance shoe. Its minimal design and luxurious suede, leather and mesh fabrication, made it a cult sneaker lovers' favorite. True to the Miu Miu spirit, this interpretation of the model is deconstructed: a classic is disrupted, its proportions reinvented with the introduction of an ultra-flat sole. The sneaker’s name - the 530 SL - is drawn from the fact that it is also super light. Two versions of the shoe are presented, one in distressed suede in a warm, natural color palette and the other in unprocessed suede and mesh in classic black and white. The effect is lived in – aged. Laces come in a variety of materials including leather and sailing cord. Those wearing the New Balance X Miu Miu 530SL are invited to choose between them, to adapt them to their personal style. We were given the opportunity to document the process alongside Saigon-based art studio, Caubetho in their conception of 5 original tote bags under the themes of a sustainable environment. Each graphic composition poses motifs that represent critical assets of a healthy ecosystem. Energy This design is divided into 3 parts - with each representing 3 different types of energy streams. The bottom part represents negative energy, color coded with a pink hue, whereas the top section represents positive energy. the neutral purple in the middle represents a mix of those two. neither of positive nor negative extremes can be as stable and lasting as the energy in the middle. but at the same time, none can exist without the other. Social in a society exists very drastically different individuals, these lines with different colors and heads represent just that. the difference here doesn’t just stop at physicality but also anything within, and in between. whether it’s appearance or sexual preference or consciousness, these thin wavy lines overlapping all the shapes represents a sense of boundless connection. to honour and respect each’s individuality is how a stable and civilised society is maintained. Sustainable This illustration represents the force of balance between the positive and negative energy in the environment. In order to reach a sustainable atmosphere, there needs to be a sense of give and take from the available resources. With those motions in place, the act of repurposing and recycling is a key factor in structuring a healthy atmosphere. But its about good energy and bad energy - how to balance them - sustainable Water This design represents a clean source of water that is occupied by organic human figures (drawn as thread here) swimming in the body of water, which in turn represents the pollution of a clean water source. Effluent & Emissions Water and emission is out of reach. Water and emission here is drawn as a chain, in which shows the metaphor of the effect of water pollution and harmful emissions on human life. With these five artworks, we aim to convey and challenge individuals to practice acts of sustainability for the betterment of global ecosystems.

Among the rooms at La Galerie Dior find features starring collaborations with female artists on themes dear to the House, as the dedicated exhibit of Elina Chauvet’s performance pieces showcased during the #DiorCruise 2024 show by Maria Grazia Chiuri. A dialogue with the artist offers insights into the profound narrative behind these white cotton muslin silhouettes echoing the House’s 1954 archive collection. Each piece is meticulously stitched with words and symbols in red embroidery denouncing violence against women in a powerful yet poetic manner.
