For the Spring-Summer 2024 Pre-Collection, Victoria Beckham brings her evolving study of the human impulse to dress up into everyday life. Founded in ease and confidence, it is a demonstration of the immaterial codes that define elegance and simplicity: the instinctive shrug, the accidental crease, the natural drape of a garment in motion. Drawing on the cinematic atmospheres that often underpin the designer’s work, the collection analyses two onscreen representations of effortless elegance: the plush grittiness of Taxi Driver from 1976 and the stark fluidity of Basic Instinct from 1992. With indirect references to its filmic muses, the wardrobe proposes simple expressions created through considered constructions that evoke the wears and gestures we associate with ideas of elegance in the real world.
