Antoine d'Agata is a French photographer and film director born in 1961 in Marseille. Antoine d'Agata left France in 1983 and remained overseas for ten years. Finding himself in New York in 1990, he pursued an interest in photography by taking courses at the International Center of Photography, where his teachers included Larry Clark and Nan Goldin.. His work deals with topics that are often considered taboo, such as addiction, sex, personal obsessions, darkness, and prostitution. D'Agata is a full member of Magnum Photos. In 2001 he won the Niépce Prize for young photographers.
