Sarah Benjamin

Born to Iraqi and Polish Jewish parents, Sarah Benjamin grew up in Jerusalem, Israel in an Orthodox home that she left at a young age. Through her teens, she spent her time traveling and documenting her unique world, capturing the punk scene and movement of ex-religious youth in Jerusalem. Sarah’s distinct understanding of the adolescent spirit juxtaposed to the shifting political and religious backdrop of Jerusalem, is the lens through which she documented. Her archive of images have yet to be shared or published to this day. At the age of 18, Sarah earned a one-way ticket to New York where she continued her documentary-style work, capturing portraits and scenes of both created characters and candid real life subjects. Unknowingly, these images formed a “street casting” database which catapulted her career as a casting director in addition to artist, and resulted in international recognition and success. Sarah is currently represented by Streeters Agency, working on some of the most high profile projects in cinema, fashion and music. She is the founder of Memoria Di, an alternative casting and creative agency that is based between NYC and Paris. Sarah’s wild, unfiltered, and visceral artistic vision is rooted in what she was brought up around-- the violence and beauty of real life, the universal truth in true style, the exuberant chaos of hyper-reality, and the electrifying magnitude of the human heart. She is currently working on her first feature film.
