AMIRI SPRING-SUMMER 2024 RUNWAY SHOW

Between the Californian and European summer, a transatlantic duality guides AMIRI’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection. Eclectic and expressive, this season’s protagonist finds himself journeying from Los Angeles through the south of France, building an aspirational wardrobe crafted from found fabrics and artistic impulses – customizing and combining on a contemporary rhythm. The AMIRI man is creative in attitude and art. Embracing the romance of being a tourist in a foreign land, he echoes the styles and sophistication of his surroundings through radical imagination and craft. Taking what he knows – subcultural Americana, particularly 50s and 90s youth culture – he creates what he sees. Balancing the casual and the classic, the borrowed and the bespoke, traditional tailoring silhouettes are relaxed and re-energized, mimicking the novelty nature of vintage garments found and reworked. This collection is dedicated to the dreamers, to those who see beauty in the mundane and make it exceptional.

AMIRI AUTUMN-WINTER 2023 RUNWAY SHOW

We drop the needle on an original composition written and performed live by legendary US producer DJ Premier and The Badder Band, transporting us to 90s New York: when the East Coast was setting the agenda – with Premier as its lead orchestrator. This is where the AW23 process began, with Mike in Premier’s Queens studio exchanging ideas and discovering archival cuts that link to the designer’s own formative years. The idea of production flows through the collection itself, as Mike and his team’s methodology repli-cates the notion of being in the recording studio: jamming, discovering new rhythms, new ways of play-ing with materials. On this beat, time-honoured tailoring fundamentals are cut with those of skate, studio and stage. Drawn loose, fluid with generous proportions, shapes slouch with languid downtown ease. An irreverent spirit finessed by sophisticated materials – cashmere, silk, shearling, faux fur, brushed wool – elevates garments to the most luxurious versions of themselves; cast in a palette of mono-chrome, silver grey, azure and ochre, accented with jolts of deep red and mint green replicating the city hues. -- Casting: Noah Shelley Soundtrack: DJ Premier & The Badder Band Runway Photography: Catwalk Picture

AMIRI’s singular journey cornerstones the Autumn-Winter 2022 collection, which marks Mike Amiri’s debut runway show in his home of Los Angeles – a proud moment for him and his team. Within this, Mike Amiri finds inspiration close to home, amongst the creative spirit of Los Angeles’ Arts District, and more specifically in his friendship with contemporary US artist Wes Lang, whose studio neighbors AMIRI’s. Guided by the house’s tenet that artistic expression needs to be uninhibited and intuitive, the collection unites design house and art studio to explore a dialogue between the two contemporaries.

The AMIRI Spring-Summer 2022 man exists in an escapist dreamscape alive with blissful possibility. Surrounded equally by tropical flora and man-made grandeur, he embraces a moment of idyllic serenity – drawing on the concept of imagination and creativity as the purest form of escapism. The collection is framed as a piece of cinema directed by Cara Striker and set within the beguiling landscape of the Wynn Las Vegas, a local escape close to home for AMIRI. The foundation of the film stems from the lucid feeling of summer romance and escape, accompanied by the soundtrack by Black Coffee.
