Katy England

England studied art and design at Manchester Polytechnic from 1984 to 1988, after which she assisted at Elle, The Mail on Sunday and The Evening Standard. After meeting photographer and Dazed & Confused founder Rankin, England was brought on at the magazine and has styled for the title ever since. “You want the designer to be able to achieve the dream they have, to develop it and make it happen. That’s the point of us, that’s why we’re here." She is best known for her work for Alexander McQueen. From the beginning of McQueen’s career, England was transporting garments, researching collections and working on show production. Since the designer’s death, England found a new collaborator in Ricardo Tisci, styling his shows, campaigns and editorials during his tenure at Givenchy. Previously fashion director of both Dazed & Confused and AnOther magazine, and now senior fashion editor-at-large of the latter, England is one of the most innovative image-makers in the industry. She has styled campaigns for Jil Sander , Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani and worked with major photographers including Mert and Marcus, Alasdair McLellan , Inez and Vinoodh, Willy Vanderperre and Nick Knight .

Reverie: Nick Knight / Katy England / Tessa Kuragi / Younji Ku

Intrigued by the dual lives of model Tessa Kuragi, Nick Knight looks at fetish in this editorial for AnOther magazine's A/W 15 issue. The shoot focuses on escapism, and the ability to form new realities through fantasy, and features styling by Katy England. The fogged, black and white nature of the prints suggests a lack of clarity, nodding to the transient, ever-changing and fleeting nature of our fantasies.
