We were given the opportunity to document the process alongside Saigon-based art studio, Caubetho in their conception of 5 original tote bags under the themes of a sustainable environment. Each graphic composition poses motifs that represent critical assets of a healthy ecosystem. Energy This design is divided into 3 parts - with each representing 3 different types of energy streams. The bottom part represents negative energy, color coded with a pink hue, whereas the top section represents positive energy. the neutral purple in the middle represents a mix of those two. neither of positive nor negative extremes can be as stable and lasting as the energy in the middle. but at the same time, none can exist without the other. Social in a society exists very drastically different individuals, these lines with different colors and heads represent just that. the difference here doesn’t just stop at physicality but also anything within, and in between. whether it’s appearance or sexual preference or consciousness, these thin wavy lines overlapping all the shapes represents a sense of boundless connection. to honour and respect each’s individuality is how a stable and civilised society is maintained. Sustainable This illustration represents the force of balance between the positive and negative energy in the environment. In order to reach a sustainable atmosphere, there needs to be a sense of give and take from the available resources. With those motions in place, the act of repurposing and recycling is a key factor in structuring a healthy atmosphere. But its about good energy and bad energy - how to balance them - sustainable Water This design represents a clean source of water that is occupied by organic human figures (drawn as thread here) swimming in the body of water, which in turn represents the pollution of a clean water source. Effluent & Emissions Water and emission is out of reach. Water and emission here is drawn as a chain, in which shows the metaphor of the effect of water pollution and harmful emissions on human life. With these five artworks, we aim to convey and challenge individuals to practice acts of sustainability for the betterment of global ecosystems.
